Records and Information Management User's Guide - Disposition

When the records stored at the Records Center have reached the disposition stage, a "Certificate of Records Disposition" (Sample - Exhibit "G") will be sent to the department for approval. This typically happens in February of each year.  The "Certificate of Records Disposition" will indicate in the upper right hand corner the type of disposition that is to occur. The disposition will be: Destruction or Archives.

When you receive the "Certificate of Records Disposition" please review each entry on the certificate to insure the records listed are in fact due for the action indicated on the certificate. If all records are listed correctly and are eligible for destruction, please sign the "Certificate of Records Disposition" and return to Records Management at 2910 LeMone Blvd., Columbia, MO  65211, or email the signed certificate to recordsmanagement@umsystem.edu.  Contact the Records Management staff if you feel the "Certificate of Records Disposition" is not correct. At that time, Records Management staff will provide additional instructions on how to proceed.
